Jimmieka was born and raised in California’s San Francisco Bay Area. She relocated to Houston in 2007 and has been active in the HCC community since 2009. Jimmieka is a communications major with a strong focus on journalism. She is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and is passionate about issues affecting students, their education and the communities they reside. She previously served as The Egalitarian news editor from October 2014 – May 2016, and has served as editor-in-chief since June 2016.
