It’s Time to Take It Back

Gerrit Cole and the Astros advance to the American League Championship Series after rallying the Rays 6-1.

“It’s been a team effort all year to put ourselves in a position to have this success.”

Gerrit Cole dominated the Rays with an outstanding pitching that made history. Fourth time pitching in the postseason in his career, Gerrit Cole’s performance broke an Major League record for most strikeouts ever in a division series (25Ks).  Cole was a key player in holding off the Rays with only allowing 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 10 batters in eight innings.

Jose Altuve also now holds the record for most postseason home runs by a second-basemen all-time (11).

The Astros collectively get 4 runs off 5 hits in the first inning to open up the scoring. The Rays could not find an answer to handle Cole’s pitching, therefore only scoring in the scoring inning.

Houston advances on to the ALCS for their third straight year. Astros will face their rivals New York Yankees Saturday night at 7:08PM.
