Reacher checks into a beat up motel, and while walking around to get to his room, notices a car, engine running with no one in it.  He looks up and sees two men, two very large men, waiting for him.  “We’re here to warn you, go back to where you came from and never come back to this city again,” they say,  “You can disappear, live your lifestyle, we’ll never find you.”  Reacher’s never been one to run, “And if I don’t,” he answers.  “Then we’ll beat you everyday, until you finally decide to leave.”

This is part 1 of my review, the book review, written by British author, Lee Child.  So far there have been 20 books written about Jack Reacher, and the 21st that is due to come out on November 8, 2016.  The series is about a wandering ex-military police that travels around the world solving crimes and helping people wrongly accused.  All of Jack Reacher’s films have been optioned for films by Paramount Pictures.  Never Go Back is the 18th book that was published in September of 2013.  The film Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is due to be released on October 21, 2016 and is directed by  Edward Zwick and stars Tom Cruise, Cobie Smulders and Danika Yarosh.  With a budget of $68 million, the film was shot entirely in Louisiana.  The film is rated PG-13 and has a running time of 118 minutes.

The book is about an Ex-Military Police officer that returns to his unit’s headquarters to meet the new commanding officer.  Upon arriving he is welcomed by a unit that tries very hard to dissuade him from staying.  He soon discovers that the commanding officer has been imprisoned on bribery charges, he is being investigated from two crimes that he committed over 16 years ago and he has been reactivated back into the military as a Major.  As the story develops, Reacher is beginning to see that some things just aren’t adding up.  And, as soon as he asks the wrong question, he is imprisoned.

So, I’d like to point out that this is from the book, and not the movie.  I love reading novels, then watching the adaptation into film.  I’ve already noticed one very different scene that was in the trailer, but not in the book.  The trailer starts off with Reacher in a diner about to take down two officers, this scene is not in the book at all.  That being said, I’m very excited about watching the film when it comes out.  The trailer definitely got me interested.  And, the book was non stop action, it was so hard to put down.  I especially love how Lee Childs puts you inside of Reachers mind, really giving us an inside perspective.  I wonder how Director Zwick is going to express this in the film?

The book is amazing and a must read for action addicts.  It has action, adventure and of course Reacher’s solving several crimes, bringing them all together.  I would advise reading the book before watching the film.  It will give you deeper insight into the characters and their motivations.  The film is going to be one beautifully orchestrated action film with amazing stunts that are going to keep you on the edge of your seat.

I love the story because it has a good and just ending.  This is a story where the good guy always wins.  And for me, those are the stories I like to stick with.  You always close the book, or walk out of the theater feeling satisfied and content.
