Houston’s very own Lizzo, real name Melissa Jefferson, gets the honor to make her RodeoHouston debut–yet again. Lizzo was set to perform and make her debut on March 13, 2020. It was the most talked about show for the 2020 Rodeo. Her career was skyrocketing at the time. Wining her first Grammy, having her hit song “Truth Hurts” gain attention in the hit Netflix movie “Someone’s Great,” so you can imagine how excited Houstonians were to have a hometown performer a part of the line up.
But all that excitement turned into disappointment. The Covid-19 pandemic shut down not only the city and the rodeo with it, but the whole world. The people of Houston not only didn’t know when the Rodeo would happen again, but also when anyone would be able to perform in front of a big crowd. As time went on, and the pandemic restrictions lifted and the RodeoHouston committee announced its return in 2022. In between that time and now, Lizzo has continued to show the world her talent with winning another Grammy and a nationwide tour.
Throughout the years, RodeoHouston has anticipated the unpredicted lineup, but this year things will change. With Bun B usually filling the spot for the R&B genre, on January 8th, 2026, RodeoHouston announced that Lizzo will be putting on her cowgirl boots and be making her mark on March 6th at NRG stadium. Lizzo posted on her Instagram a promotional video that announces her 2nd chance to the star stunned stage. She is excited to make the city proud. Will she bring out anyone special? Will you be there? Don’t miss your chance to see her on March 6th! Tickets are on sale now!
