Barbershops, salon to reopen Friday, gyms scheduled for May 18

Today during Gov. Greg Abott’s Covid-19 briefing in Austin, Abbott said hair salons and barbershops which remained closed since the first phase of reopening Texas can now welcome back customers on Friday with limits while gyms can open on May 18,  for all you gym rats and those who have a full head of hair our time is soon to come.

these new requirements include 6 feet separation between clients, and masks for customers and stylist. similar to the restaurants, salons are allowed to open but not required so check in with your stylist before showing up.

Gyms and fitness facilities were also not allowed to reopen but the governor has allowed that day to be May 18, also with new rules including 6 feet social distancing, disinfecting surfaces and the closure of gym showers and locker rooms atop of maintaining 25% capacity.

Abbott also clarified that wedding receptions fall under the same rules as open restaurants.
