What caused the plane Crash over the Potomac River in Washington, DC ? There are many different theories but none of them are able to give us a clear understanding of the crash. On January 29, 2025, a former Bombardier CRJ700 airliner that belonged to american airlines flight 5342 crashed into a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River. According to CNN there was evidence that there were air traffic controllers on both aircraft but there is no sure evidence that they were active or if that’s what caused the crash.
