“Glory, Glory, Man United”

Will they rise again?

Cristiano Ronaldo, one of soccer’s greatest ever players, was official unveiled for Saudi Arabian team Al Nassr on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023. Ronaldo, who has won five Ballon d’Ors awards and five Champions League titles, spent the past two decades at the top level of the European game, playing at three of the biggest clubs in the world: Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. As a longtime fan of the team, I can say that things have changed a lot ever since Sir Alex Ferguson has been the coach of Manchester United. I remember the days of glory when they would win their matches back-to-back with goals from the likes of Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Nemanja Vidic, Ryan Giggs, and many more greats of the time. Maybe I’m just living in the past or maybe I’d just like to see team that brought joy to me in my youth. Manchester United has collected various championships such as FIFA Club World Cup, Champion Leagues, World’s Best Club Coach, English Championship, and UEFA Supercup under Sir Alex, so will Manchester united ever become the championship winning team again?

Nowadays one cannot tell where this team is headed with wins and losses at random. Erik Ten Hag is a good coach and team is full of great players including players with potential unlike any other top team in the league, so why can’t they be consistent with wins in their matches?  It seems as if there is not even drive to win trophies as they have in the past but only to barely get amongst the top of the table in the Premier League. Many of the recent matches of them were nearly losses or draws and not great wins.  Sir Alex Ferguson once said “I’ve never played for a draw in my life” I believe in the coach and the players of today had this sense of drive in their games they would try their absolute best to get wins. Times of today they are always near the edge of a loss. They lose to certain low-ranking teams that would have been obliterated by the team I once knew in the year of 2008.

In the future of this club, I would love to see them at the very top of the table and winning trophies again as they did before.  I want this club to bring me the joy I once had as a child, although that maybe a selfish to say I think most fans of the team would resonate with these words of mine. May the Red Devils march on towards victory!
