Wembley, Wembley! Ole! Ole! Ole! The Houston Texans won in yesterday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. The final score read 26-3. The game was held in Wembley Stadium, a very nice looking stadium on the northwest side of the city. This was also the first time the Texans played a game in London. Maybe Houston turned some Londoners into Texans fans, thanks in part to yesterday’s performance.

Most Texans game have a kickoff time of 12 PM Central Time on KHOU 11. Since the game was in London, kickoff was at 8:30 AM (London time was 2:30 PM), and the game was televised on FOX 26. Over 84,000 people were in attendance at Wembley Sunday afternoon, a fitting send off for the last London game of the year. In the 1st quarter, both teams didn’t really get much going; the Texans were able to score a 52 yard field goal in the middle of the 1st. The 2nd quarter produced more scoring and a bit of drama. Houston scored a touchdown from a Deshaun Watson pass to Darren Fells (don’t be too amazed, it was a 1 yard TD pass). For the extra point attempt, all seemed normal. The kicker lines up, does his run up and… the ball gets blocked! Fortunately, the Jaguars didn’t return it for a touchdown, instead settling for a field goal from 30 yards out. At the half, the score was 9-3. Not really a good game to watch, but good enough for Houston.

The 2nd half was a scoring takeover from the Houston Texans. It began with another Texans field goal; it was a closer one, only a 42 yarder that the Houston kicker made. Later in the 3rd quarter, as the Texans were within striking distance for another touchdown, Watson handed the ball of to Duke Johnson who ran it in from a yard out. In the process of scoring the TD, he pancaked a defender, sending the crowd in an uproar. Again, not much scoring was done in the last quarter of the game (the Texans were essentially eating up time). The touchdown they did make was another TD pass from Watson, this time finding the hands of DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins did get fouled on the scoring play (it was pass interference on AJ Bouye[DB, JAX]), but it declined swiftly. Overall, the Houston Texans balled out in London, knocking out the Jaguars 26-3 at the final whistle. The Texans are now definitely on the way

Milestones from London

Ka’imi Fairbairn’s (K, HOU) 52 yard field goal was the first opening drive score for the Texans this season.

Deshaun Watson (QB, HOU) has passed Andrew Luck for the 5th most passing yards by a player in his first 32 career games since 1950.

Calais Campbell (DE, JAX) is the 4th player in Jaguars history to have 30+ career sacks.

DeAndre Hopkins (WR, HOU) has 5 or more receptions in 12 consecutive games. This is the second longest active streak in the NFL.

Carlos Hyde (RB, HOU) was the 2nd RB with 100+ rushing yards versus the Jaguars in London. DeMarco Murray was the first to do it back in 2014.

Kenny Stills (WR, HOU) became the 1st player with 4,500+ career receiving yards on fewer than 300 receptions since Willie Davis back in 1998.
