The Astros’ fans are in the middle of a hot and sweaty love affair with Dallas. No, not that metropolis five hours north of the Space City, but Dallas Keuchel the club’s Ace pitcher.

Dallas is having one of those magical seasons where everything he does is going better than planned.

To start off the first half of the season Dallas went tossed out 10 wins and 3 losses in 17 games started and winning the American League Pitcher of the Month award in April and May.

When asked about the awards Keuchel replied, “It is a tremendous honor. But it is not all about me, and that’s the way I chose to look at these things. I mean it starts with the guys behind the plate, (Jason) Castro and (Hank) Conger, and the coaching staff getting us ready for the heat of battle. And the defense has gotten me out of a bunch of jams. So, without those guys, I wouldn’t be sitting here right now.”

At the All-Star Game Dallas along with Jose Altuve represented the Astros after being voted in by the fans and the coaching staff. Dallas opened the game for the American League going two innings striking out 1 and getting 4 ground outs.

In the second half of the campaign Dallas has been just as masterful although he has not had the same run production from the club due to various injuries on the team. Even with the the drop in run support, Dallas has accumulated an additional 9 wins along with 5 losses.

Dallas also won a third Pitcher of the Moth Award in August,  joining only three other pitchers in baseball history to accomplish that feat in one season.

On days when he pitches you can find a group of fans, reaching close to 100 members, sitting in section 106 off of the third-baseline wearing shirts reading Keuchel’s Korner with a caricature of him sporting his overgrown beard.

Martha Lewis, a member of Keuchel’s Korner stated, “I am a member because every time he pitches there is a chance to see something very special and I want to be in the building when it happens.”

With just a week left in the season, Dallas has started 32 games and has dominated the league with a record of 19-8 and the third best E.R.A. at 2.47.

With the Astros still deep in thick of the race for the playoffs, Dallas’ spot in the rotation is due up once more and up first for either the one game play in match or the first game of the divisional series.

Dallas has placed himself in a great spot to be the first pitcher to win a fourth Pitcher of the Month Award and the American League Cy Young Award for the season.

No matter what is to come in this last week of the 2015 Major League Baseball season, the Houston Astros’ future looks very bright with Dallas heading up the pitching staff.
