According to Netflix, Wednesday was reported as their most watched series ever when season 1 was released. Now, with season 2 rolling out, Netflix sees it as one of their most notable shows. This show has made it to a list that belongs to a small handful of series, as it is a two-part release for one season. On August 6, 2025 season 2 of Wednesday picks up the gothic pace with actress Jenna Ortega’s dreadful luster remaining as the show’s captivating core.
Nevermore Academy is bringing in more supernatural chaos and we get to watch as Wednesday Addams navigates another school year. Horror territory is being brought in much deeper this season, as it hones in on horror motifs and dread that share characteristics we’d see from Edgar Allen Poe. Subplots, such as schoolboy drama and morbid humor, bring it all to a balance. Tim Burton let’s his ideas loose through creepy optics and dramatizations; this assists in the series’ cunning gothic style.
In part one of season 2, Wednesday’s psychic visions predict the death of her friend Enid, and she must find a way to protect her from this fate. Meanwhile, a new & shady principle—Barry Dort, played by Steve Buchemi and an unknown stalker create even more tension. The season also gives an expansion in the Addams family. The narrative gives them more screen time, sharing their dark family secrets and raising emotional concerns.
Rotten tomatoes gave Wednesday season 2 a solid 83 percent rating approval. Critics, like Decider, support watching as they say, “it’s morbid charm, Ortega’s magnetic presence, and the promise of answers in Part 2” are what they enjoy.
In my opinion, Wednesday season 2 is a great watch. Jenna Ortega continues to perform her role effortlessly with her cast mates following up. However, there may be too much happening with subplots. Regardless if its flaws, it still has enough grotesque charm to grasp viewers attention. Especially with season 2 of the season on its way.
