GALVESTON, Texas  — Opening statements have begun in Galveston in the sexual assault trial of a 63-year-old man who prosecutors say paid thousands of dollars to high school girls for sex.

Michael Wayne McIntosh of Friendswood is facing multiple charges that include inducing a child to have sex. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Prosecutors contend he paid thousands to multiple girls who attend two area high schools. They say he was known to frequent restaurants and solicit waitresses.

A teenager testified Tuesday that she knew McIntosh by the nickname “Money Mike” and was paid $300 for sex.

McIntosh was arrested in June 2013. He remains free on $120,000 bail.
