HOUSTON, Texas – The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 is currently being hosted in the United States this year. This event will feature a total of 32 teams across 12 venues located in the US. Fans are traveling from around the world to come experience this unique event, but with that also comes many valid concerns. This event started sparking fear when a U.S. Customs and Border Protection social media account posted stating “Let the games begin. The first #FIFAClubWorldCup games starts on June 14th in Miami, FL at the Hard Rock Stadium. CBP will be suited and booted ready to provide security for the first round of games. #CBPxFIFA #FootballUnitesTheWorld”. This post was accompanied by an image featuring the U.S. Customs and Border Protection logo with a soccer ball and a pun that states “Our Goal Is Security”. Some people found this post a bit distasteful considering the immigration crisis going on right now.
Recently international travelers have been getting detained for days, even weeks, at the US Border crossings igniting fear amongst other tourists. The current political state of the United States has developed an overwhelming shadow on this very popular event. Both international and at home fans are now also concerned things might escalate next year, considering the US will be co-hosting the FIFA World Cup alongside Mexico and Canada. It is not a rare sighting for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements to provide their services for big events, but people are now questioning their roles and motives. There have been many reports of an underwhelming low attendance at these games which is making people question if the current crisis is making the demand so low. In response, FIFA has been introducing very big price cuts in order to boost sales. They are even offering college students tickets for as low as $20.
