Jobseekers, students and members of the community are invited to attend a symposium and job fair June 20 that will provide them with employment and education opportunities.
The Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Workforce Development Symposium and Job Fair is set for 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Houston Community College (HCC) Missouri City campus at 1600 Texas Parkway in Missouri City.
The event will provide information about college academic and technical programs and career paths while offering on-site job interview opportunities. HCC staff will be on hand to offer resources about college programs that can lead to rewarding careers for students pursuing an associate degree, certificates, or a four-year degree.
The annual symposium and job fair is organized by Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Foundation in partnership with HCC and the City of Missouri City, as part of the Juneteenth celebration.
“This is the third year HCC has hosted the workforce symposium and job fair working with the Juneteenth foundation, and we remain committed to making it a practical, results-driven event,” said HCC Southwest President Dr. Michael Webster. “It’s about connecting residents with real job opportunities, training, and clear pathways to better careers.”
Dr. Cynthia Turner, an organizer with the foundation, said the event in 2024 welcomed more than 600 participants from across the Houston and Fort Bend County areas.
“This year, we anticipate continued momentum, with about 60 vendors and businesses expected to participate,” said Etta Smith, foundation chairperson who is also an HCC business technology instructor. “This event offers residents valuable chances to meet with potential employers and explore job possibilities.”
The event will include resume writing workshops and mock interviews. The seminars will cover career paths including police, fire, emergency medical technician/paramedic, phlebotomy and other occupations.
Numerous companies and organizations will share information about career opportunities. There will also be job interviews on site.
Due to space limitations, attendees are encouraged to register for the event at MCJCF2025JOBFAIR.eventbrite.com.
