The University of Houston Cougars men’s basketball team just finished their season as the runner-ups in the NCAA men’s basketball national championship. Although they came up short against the University of Florida Gators, losing by 2 points, they still had an amazing season. The Cougars are stacked with major talent on the court, such as L.J. Cryer, Cougar guard. He is a Houston native who grew up in Katy, Texas and graduated from Morton Ranch High School in 2020. His powerful offensive moves led him to score 19 points in the final championship game, along with 2 assists and 6 rebounds. The team’s starting forward, J’wan Roberts, gave the Cougars a leg up as he contributed 8 points and 8 rebounds. With his height, he was able to help his teammates perform better on the court. The Cougars ended their season by winning their first Big 12 Tournament title against Arizona with a finishing score of 72-64. Even though they fell short during the national championship, they 100% made their school, students, staff, and Houston proud.
