As the 2025 Houston Rodeo came to a close at the end of March, it was another successful year for country music, fun rides, and great food. Over the years, the Houston Rodeo has had iconic music stars headline the main stage at NRG Stadium. A few artists have even made multiple appearances for the event, practically giving them a residency. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and look back on some of the most iconic stars and performances at Houston’s biggest event of the year!

Luke Bryan started performing at the Houston Rodeo in 2012 and became a major hit with all the fans. His funny personality and popular songs like “Country Girl” and “Play it Again” lit up the whole arena. He has come back every year since and has had 12 sold-out shows at the rodeo. This year, Luke Bryan was inducted into the Houston Rodeo Star Trail of Fame for all of his hard work and contribution to the event, making him one of the most iconic performers to step onto the rodeo stage.
This next performer is arguably known as the “King of Country” and even more well-known as one of the most iconic performers of the Houston Rodeo. George Strait made his debut at the rodeo back in 1983 and since then, he has played on the main stage over 30 times. He is a country icon as his amazing voice and lyrics make all Texans feel close to home. Strait’s concert-only performance in 2019 holds the record for highest rodeo attendance. In 2002, when the rodeo still took place in the Astrodome, he managed to set a venue record there as well.
Overall, the Houston Rodeo is a wholesome event for families and friends to get together to enjoy great music and have a fun time while taking in all the traditions of Texas culture.
