The Eras Tour, created by Taylor Swift, was a creative concept never presented before. Taylor had an idea the celebrate all 17 years of her music “one era at a time”. This tour would be in honor of her re-recorded albums, as well as, her two sister albums, Folklore and Evermore. Later in the tour, Swift surprises fans by adding a set for her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Over the span of almost two years, Taylor Swift, a worldwide pop star, started what would be the highest grossing tour of all time. Swift started her three and a half hour long tour in March of 2023, in Glendale, Arizona. She then went on to travel across 52 cities and counties.
Throughout her time around the world, many cities around the world reported copious amount city revenue. According to Forbes Magazine, during her seven day split between Sydney, Australia and Melbourne would contribute to almost $1.2 billion in Australian dollars, which is about $766 million USD.
During April of 2023, Swift spent two nights in Houston, Texas. Local businesses in the areas, including a downtown pizza shop, Two Guys Pizzeria, gave reports that foot traffic through the shop was significantly higher compared to any other days.
Not only was Taylor bringing in revenue through food and hospitality services, but her fan base was driving craft store sales by making millions of friendship bracelets. The fan project was inspired by Your On Your Own Kid, a song from Taylor’s 10th studio album, Midnights. Millions of people worldwide were making hundreds of bracelets to trade while at the shows. This was intended for the fans to have shared memories with others who value the same. According to USA Today, the craft store Micheals, reported a 40% increase in sales since mid April.
