This movie focuses on the story of the build-up to the conflict between the Autobots led by Optimus Prime and the Decepticons led by Megatron.
It featured the fan-favorite duo when they were younger as they were both miner bots who were known back then as Orion Pax and D-16. It starts with giving us a taste of the dynamic between them as Orion is more optimistic as he wishes to rise above their current ranks. At the same time, D-16 is strictly by the rules individual and prefers to stick by the status quo and avoid unwanted issues even if it means giving up his free will. Both bots did not have their cogs which essentially gave them the ability to transform. Orio decides to enter a race to send a message to the higher-ups to show that they are more than just miner bots. In the story, we find out the reason behind them not having cogs. It highlights a heavy problem that we as people struggle with in real life the celebrities and individuals that are popular we idolize, and then once a scandal or drama comes out; we’re all shocked not knowing that they’re not so different from us, and are also human. This leads to D-16 and Orio butting heads as one wants to take a more heroic approach and expose the sentinel’s true colors without harming him, while D-16 driven by anger and newfound upon realizing his idol’s true intentions wants nothing more but to make sentinel pay for his crimes and his solution was more drastic as he wanted nothing more than take sentinel’s life away.
Which ended up forming a rift between them as once brothers in arms were now slowly becoming sworn enemies. In summary, it was pretty well written and it ended up reviving the legacy of the transformers that we all know and love in a new light and shows that there is more underlying depth to the story than it seems.
