Disney+ will premiere its first anime adaptation based on Twisted Wonderland, the mobile game,
on October 29.
The anime series follows a high school student named Yuken, who must navigate danger and
work with his classmates to return home after being transported to a magical world.
The adaptation originates from a popular Disney IP mobile game, launched first in Japan in
2020, and created by Aniplex and Walt Disney Japan. This game has been downloaded over 4.8 million times, featuring manga and novel adaptations alongside consumer products.
The enchanted world of Twisted Wonderland, where the series is set, follows Night Raven
College —an elite academy for budding mages that has seven magical dormitories inspired on
the seven iconic Disney Villains: the Queen of Hearts, the King of Beasts (Scar), the Sea Witch
(Ursula), the Sorcerer of the Sands (Jafar), the Fairest Queen (Evil Queen), the King of the
Underworld (Hades), and the Thorn Fairy (Maleficent); dorms that have been set due to their
acts.
Yuken Enma, unaware of this, suddenly finds himself transported to Night Raven College and
immediately begins alienating its residents.
Unable to wield magic and stunned by the new reality, Yuken starts looking for a way back home
constantly, before incurring the wrath of the Rose-red Tyrant Riddle Rosehearts. He finds himself tangled up in adventures with his new troublemaking classmates, Ace and Deuce.
