Houston Community College students at the Central campus will be singing, dancing, and performing in several upcoming student productions. Students will also be displaying their artwork in the Fall 2014 Juried Student Art Exhibit.

Please note that there are three venues, the Heinen Theater, Theatre One and The Gallery. These venues are in three different buildings at the Central campus, but have the same street address: 3517 Austin at Holman.

MUSIC: Musiq Matterz
Tuesday, Nov. 11 7p.m. Free, Theatre One.
A concert of new music from the Central campus’ music songwriting class, under the direction of Horace Alexander Young.

ART: Fall 2014 Juried Student Art Exhibit
Gallery: Tuesday, Nov 18 through Tuesday, Dec. 2
Reception: Tuesday, Nov. 18 6 to 8p.m.

The HCC-Central Art Fall 2014 Juried Student Art Exhibit will open on Tuesday, Nov. 18. A public reception will be from 6PM to 8PM in The Gallery of the Central’s Fine Arts Center building. The distinguished juror will be Dennis Nance, Exhibitions and Programming director for Lawndale Art Center. Nance and the Central Art faculty will choose outstanding student work to be award recipients. Awards totaling more than $1,000 will be presented at 7PM. Various media pieces will be entered, including paintings, digital art, drawings, jewelry and sculptures. Art from innovative young artists will be for sale. The exhibit will be in the gallery through Dec. 2.

DANCE: Movement Evolution

An African Dance and Drum Ensemble in concert with guest artists Sauda Jackson of Atlanta’s Guerilla Dance Projekt and Ingoma Planet, a drum and dance ensemble from Burundi.

MUSIC: Honors Recital
Tuesday, Dec. 2 7:30p.m. Free, Heinen Theatre.
Outstanding students from the instrumental, voice and composition classes will perform in this recital.

DANCE: On The Edge
Wednesday, Dec. 3 7:30p.m. Tickets: $5.00, Heinen Theatre.
New works by student choreographers will be performed.

DANCE: Open Studio
Friday, Dec. 5 7p.m. Tickets: $5.00, Heinen Theatre.
All of the central dance students will perform in a high energy recital.
