Egalitarian, Staff Report

Young Invincibles would like to invite you to our Health Coverage Gap Advocacy Training on July 14 from 6:30–8:30pm at the Montrose Center, 401 Branard St., Houston TX. It will be the first of five statewide trainings on the health coverage gap for young adults.

YI is a national non-profit organization that works towards greater economic opportunity for young adults, ages 18 – 34. In Texas, YI has played a vital role in engaging young Texans to advance a state agenda for greater economic opportunities through organizing, advocacy and research on health care, higher education, and workforce issues impacting our generation.

With members in Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and the Rio Grande Valley,YI is looking to train and empower a new generation of young Texans with both the policy savvy and legislative advocacy skills to advance access to affordable health
care in our state.

We will be hosting two-hour training with food and engaging activities that will answer questions like:

· What is the coverage gap?

· How does it affect young adults?

· Who are the decision makers on Texas’s expansion of Medicaid?

· How can young people get involved?

The training is part of a statewide tour to activate a broader network of empowered young adults for health advocacy for all Texans. And we’d like you help! We would like to invite any of your members that might be interested in learning more about the health coverage gap and methods of advocacy to come learn with us at our training.

If you or your organization would like to participate, please let us know by replying with a headcount. We’d like to ensure we buy enough snacks and food!

Thank you for your work, advocacy, and organizing! YI is proud to partner with you for a more just and healthier Texas. We will also keep you posted for the upcoming trainings in the RGV, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas.
